Cadillac Problems - Preparing for the Launch on February 1st.

So I know I haven't been putting a lot of information out there in written, or typed for that matter, format. Reason being is that I have been COMPLETELY swamped trying to get things ready for this projects office launch on February first.

I know that at this point it seems a little ambitious to refer to the start of this project as a "launch," or giving it an "office" start date, but I think those words are more of a motivator for myself then anything else.

Lots to do - still learning about how to be a successful blogger, and well as a YouTube contributor, all while trying to keep my eye on the prize... After all, wouldn't all of this effort be for nothing if I don't preform well at the tables?

So no video again this week, but at least there's a legitimate reason why.

Till next week, good luck in the rings!

Weekly Update #1

I haven't been focusing on this project nearly as much as I had hoped to in the beginning. It doesn't help that at the same time I started this endever I also decided to embark on three other projects, but after some soul searching I've come to the conclusion that the other projects have to go. I am okay with just writing the extra ones off as "faulty new years resolutions" as I walk away from them.

Although I haven't been 100% focused... Or even 50% focused on playing the free rolls, I have been able to turn a micro profit in the past week.

So like I said, not completely inactive, but not really playing with as much commitment as I think needs to be applied in order to actually do anything.

I'm okay with the rate at the moment, because like I've said other places - Once Jessica gets back to school, and the kids are back into a routine then I will have the ability to actually schedule time for games.
Until next week - forward (slowly) into the future!

No Blog This week, but check out the last live stream:

Round Two:

I know I just posted something yesterday, but it honestly took me a week to get that entire thing together. I'm just getting this started, so I guess the time it takes to produce a blog/vlog needs to be addressed.

I won a few of the free rolls over the past few days, but nothing really that big. A few of the early bubble seats, so they only paid some change. It has been really difficult to actually sit down and focus on doing my best because of the family situation, but once the winter break is over and my wife is back in school I will be able to dedicate a little more time to this.

The vlog for this week was done before the blog was written, so there might be a little more information in that than there will be written, but there really hasn't been a lot to write about so it is what it is.

Next week should be better, and I hope to cover a bit more of the "Christian poker player" aspect of this. I haven't said a lot in that area because I'm just getting started in this.

Until next week!

Opening Post - What's Going on Here?!?

I suck at opening posts. I normally end up either giving too much information which is easy to get board, or I don't post enough information and people are left in the dark about important background stuff.

Here's me attempting to aim for a middle ground, as well as relying on anybody interested in more information checking out the YouTube videos I am going to make to accompany each blog. (link at the bottom)

A little background about me: I'm 32 years old, married to a beautiful wife with 4 amazing kids, and I'm a follower of Jesus Christ. That's what I feel is important to know about me, and everything else is just filler. College student who's studies have been put on hold for financial reasons, but I'm okay with that because it affords me the opportunity to focus more on raising our children without having to use the services of a daycare, or any other "child care" facility / service...

Okay, on to the main event; the reason I'm doing this. There are 3 key motivating factors that have given me the courage to actually attempt this. Inspiration, innovation, and desperation.

Why poker? It is because of the fact that I have always had a closeted love for poker. I remember my dad teaching me five card stud at a very young age, and my mother being frustrated with him for doing so. I also remember when I started playing poker in the 8th grade with fellow for candy, and negative reaction from the teachers. I loved the game, but was conditioned to believe it was a bad thing... I don't believe that anymore.

As for the motivational factors:

1. Inspiration: Reading Doyle Brunson's Supersystem and finding out that poker is just a game, but it could be played with a winning strategy. Before that I honestly thought that it was all a matter of chance.
Another factor was Chris Moneymaker winning the WSOP in 2004. It didn't really effect my life, but it opened my eyes to the possibility of making the choice to go from a typical 5 to 9 white collar worker to a successful professional poker player. The reason I've decided to go about it with full disclosed of my life as it is now, and as it's unfolding is the result of watching Chris Sommerville, or "J Carver," produce his YouTube series Run-It-Up. All of the examples have proven to me, if nothing else, that it is possible. With hard work and dedication professional poker playing is a possibility.
2. Innovation: This factor is more based on poker as it has evolved over the years than anything on my part. Because it has become legal to play poker online in Nevada I have the opportunity to play at times that are convenient to my family. I don't have to be downtown stalking the rooms in the hopes of finding a table that may produce profit. Before I was married with children that was an option, and I enjoyed doing it for a time, but I don't have it in me to be away from my family for long periods of time on a expedition that may or may not prove valuable. Being with my growing family however is invaluable.
3. Desperation: We are living in poverty. I know that in America there's the mentality of "you don't know what poverty is! Do you have any idea what life is like in (blank)?" followed by a procession of facts about non-industrial advanced cultures around the world. I don't believe that because we live in a country that can provide a different quality of living for non-wealthy, or even below average... or even below the below average (us) family, but that isn't a reason to chastise anybody not being completely satisfied with where they land on the financial scale of their society. I don't like the feeling of trying to raise a family while $22,000 dollars in debit, and having to take out more loans to get my wife through nursing school. On top of all of that there are logical reasons for us not to work (even a part time) while she is in school. That's something I'll go into detail about in the vlog as this post is already getting longer than I had intended.
Those are all the reason in a nut-shell as to why I'm doing this. Another important fact that I need to touch on before I end this post. I will be doing this entire venture without investing any cash out of pocket. Mostly because we don't have the money to invest, and because it adds to the miraculous aspect of the whole ordeal. I haven't discussed anything about God thus far because I'm trying to avoid the religious argument as long as I can. Honestly I believe when this works out it'll be a result of God's will, and not anything that I could solely take credit for. Even if there's an opinion of skill I would testify that it's only skill provided by God.

So... That all being said. Here we go!
